MIssion C247.81 - Retrieve and Relocate

This was to be a simple assignment, one that I have performed hundreds of times. The rapid decline of planet Terra E368, has us all working overtime. Myself, am from Earth and was recruited many years ago by DANGER (Department of Apocalyptic Networking and Galactic Environmental Relocation).  I feel the need to specify this as this mission was rather testing and brought me back to my homeland, Africa.
In my years as an agent, I have travelled to many distant lands and planets, but there is nothing that fully matches the immensity and soul that can be felt from the land in Africa. I left as a young chick and at the beginning of the climate and humanoid over population problems. I remember the never-ending plains and sweet sunsets to the rhythm of the cicadas’ chants with the a distant hyena laughter that kept you both on your toes and with a smile of content. Those were different days, and strangely I had not been back in all this time. Nostalgia did overcome me for an instant. Seeing my land in such chaos under the scorching and unbearable heat, broke a piece of my heart. However, DANGER has prepared me both physically and mentally for such situations as I was quick to compartmentalize and stay on track of the mission.

The mission. Like I stated earlier was supposed to be a routine expedition. I was to extract the last Indri Lemur and bring her to headquarters for immediate relocation, but quickly complications began to surface. Recent events in this poor lemur’s life had not been updated to my data, has it no longer lived in the rainforest on the island of Madagascar, but had been captured by poachers and held for re-sale in Harare, Zimbabwe.
This information was delivered to me upon arrival on the island by our agent and liaison officer, Watutuu. Whom I must say has not lost his sense of humour despite these dark times.

After receiving this information, I set course on a very laborious adventure through Mozambique and Malawi which involved rabbits, coca cola and an ostrich called Gnu, those of which I will save the details for a more informal conversation. I did eventually find myself in the Zimbabwean capital, Harare. I had decided to travel incognito via the underground routes as to not draw suspicion and alert any scouts that could be lurking in the shadows and reveal my position. Thus, making my mission to find the lemur even more difficult.

Unfortunately, it seems my stealth was not always on point, as upon arrival to the warehouse Watutuu had indicated, I was greeted by some heavily armed humanoids with viciously trained hyenas on chains. I’ve always hated that practice and wanted to liberate them, but the mission comes first. I did however during our dusty brawl where after losing a few feathers, manage to put a locating beacon on one of the hyenas which I sent the coordinates to the rehabilitation department.
